Gates Lake

Gates Lake is a picturesque reservoir situated in Sevier County, Utah, at an elevation of nearly 9,800 feet. Nestled within the Fishlake National Forest, the area is adorned with aspen and conifer trees, offering a serene environment for visitors.

Recreational Activities:

•Fishing: The reservoir provides opportunities for anglers to fish in its tranquil waters.

•Camping: Dispersed camping is available near the lake, featuring amenities such as a vault restroom and an information kiosk. Campers can enjoy the natural surroundings and engage in activities like wildlife viewing and hiking.

•Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Riding: The area offers 50-inch ATV riding on designated routes, catering to off-road enthusiasts.

Access:

To reach Gates Lake from Salina, Utah:

1.Head south on State Street for approximately 2 miles to reach I-70.

2.Merge onto I-70 eastbound and continue for about 6.5 miles.

3.Take Exit 63 for Gooseberry Road, then turn right (south) onto Gooseberry Road (County Road #640) and drive for approximately 18.4 miles.

4.Turn right onto Forest Road 040 and proceed for 2.4 miles to arrive at the lake.

Please note that the road to Gates Lake (FR040) can be rough and is not recommended for trailers. Additionally, there is no water available on-site, so visitors should plan accordingly.
