Huntington Reservoir

Huntington Reservoir, also known as Mammoth Reservoir, is a scenic mountain lake located in Sanpete County, Utah, approximately 17 miles east of Fairview along Highway 31.  This reservoir offers a variety of recreational activities, including fishing, boating, and camping.

Recreational Opportunities:

• Fishing: Anglers are drawn to Huntington Reservoir for its abundant tiger trout population, a hybrid between brook and brown trout. The reservoir has been regularly stocked with tiger trout since the early 1990s, averaging about 10,000 annually. Additionally, Colorado cutthroat trout are present; however, regulations require their immediate release if caught.

• Boating: Both motorized and non-motorized boating are permitted on the reservoir, providing opportunities for water skiing, wakeboarding, and leisurely exploration of the lake’s serene waters.

• Camping and Picnicking: The surrounding area offers camping facilities and picnic sites, making it an ideal spot for family gatherings and overnight stays amidst the natural beauty of the Manti-La Sal National Forest.

Fish Species in the Lake:

• Tiger Trout: The primary catch for anglers at Huntington Reservoir, known for their aggressive behavior and challenging fight.

• Colorado Cutthroat Trout: Occasionally caught; anglers must release these fish immediately to comply with local fishing regulations.
